TLC completed the ABP Southampton Half Marathon!

After months of tough training and plank challenges, the TLC team completed the ABP Southampton Half Marathon!
On Sunday, our abilities were put to the test as we tackled the gruelling Southampton Half Marathon. There was no blood, minimal tears and only a few injuries, but we are proud to say that the TLC team completed the race with a smile (kind of) on our faces!

We started off at Above Bar Street, then continued our journey over the Itchen Bridge, through St Mary’s Stadium and around Southampton Common. You could say that some of us hit the ‘runner’s wall’ as we tackled the (deceptively) hilly Burgess Road!

We all finished in a great time:

Josh – 01:37:09
Anna – 01:58:24
Alex – 02:14:04
Sophie – 02:37:27
Shannon – 02:52:35

We’re all feeling very achy this week, but excited for our next marathon-mission!

Only 4 days until the Southampton Half Marathon

It only seemed like yesterday that the TLC team nervously signed up for the ABP Southampton Half Marathon, and before you know it, it’s only 4 days away!
There have been a few injuries along the way, but the team have all been training hard, and we’re finally getting some use out of the running machine! (Who would have thought?)

We’ve all set a time of when we want to finish the marathon by, but will any of us achieve our goal? Stay tuned!

Couch to half marathon in just 3 months – we did it!!

This year, we decided to complete a challenge that all of us could work towards and help us to raise some money in the process. On Sunday, our months of training were put to the test as we tackled the gruelling and (deceptively) hilly Basingstoke Half-Marathon. There was no blood, minimal tears and just a dash of vomit but we are proud to say that all the TLC Business Team completed the race with a smile (sort of) on their face.

We all finished in a great time and the results were as follows:

Josh – 1:31:55
Jake – 1.41.35
Lenny – 2.10.41
Anna – 2.12.20
Connie – 2.27.54

Although we are all very achy this week, we are feeling proud of ourselves for not only our personal accomplishments, but also the money we have raised (so far) for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

We’ve received an overwhelming amount of support, managing to raise £1,350.34 so far, but we’d love to raise even more and get to £1,500. Every penny counts, so we will be truly grateful for anything you can spare.

Please visit our Just Giving page, and for those of you who don’t think it’s a hard enough challenge, check out this poor guy…

We’re running a half marathon!

This year, we decided to set ourselves a challenge that would help develop us and raise some money for a fantastic cause at the same time.

After much debate, deliberation and no small amount of ‘gentle’ persuasion, it was agreed that a half marathon would be a fitting activity. Although challenging, it is an achievable target for us all to aim for.

The Basingstoke Half Marathon was 100 days away, fell on Lenny’s birthday and was at a start time that fitted in with the family commitments of the team. It was as if it was meant to be!

So, we booked it.

We will all be running for Marie Curie Cancer Care. We all chose a charity that meant something to us personally and in true democratic style, entered the names into a hat.

Jake Spencer, the IT brains in the business, was drawn and he chose Marie Curie Cancer Care. It is a cause close to his and his brother, Josh’s, heart. The wonderful nurses at the Marie Curie hospice in Hampstead, London, made the last difficult and emotional days of their much-loved Grandfather, Charles Elvey, so much more positive and bearable for Charles and the whole family. They provided support, love, care, laughter and advice and made sure Charles’ last days were as comfortable and positive as possible. Jake and Josh’s whole family are so grateful for the support these fantastic people bring to people like us at such a difficult time.

We hope you’ll agree the charity does a brilliant job and help us in raising some much needed money to ensure the charity can continue to help people and families at such a difficult period in their lives. If you can spare anything, please visit our Just Giving page. Every penny counts, so any donation you make will be incredibly gratefully received.

Thank you so much in advance from all the TLC Business team!
