There’s snow place like Winchester!

It may have been the first day of Spring, but the ‘Beast from the East’ met ‘Storm Emma’ in Winchester yesterday and left our offices in Owslebury looking like a countryside winter wonderland!

Camkids Update and Winter 2017/18 Newsletter

Here at TLC Business, we’ve been proudly sponsoring Camkids – The Cambodian Children’s Charity for a number of years now, and this week we’ve had the pleasure of receiving their quarterly newsletter. Camkids is an incredibly worthwhile charity that supports less-fortunate children in Cambodia, by providing them with everyday opportunities, such as education and healthcare, which they’d otherwise be without.

2017 proved to be a very exciting year for the charity, as they completed their process of transformation; which included concentrating on the development of their own CCC school and other MEND projects. The charity’s CCC school even received a surprise visit from the King of Cambodia himself in July.

As well as this, we’ve also received an update on how Sreylim is doing.

Sreylim with two of her friends, Makara and Phally

Sreylim has been taking full advantage of their new cooker and cooks herself meals most days. She continues to thrive at school and is currently studying Maths, Geometry, Chemistry, Physic and Khmer literature with the hope of being offered a Scholarship for University.

Josh and Anna take part in their first Winchester Half Marathon

Congratulations to Josh and Anna for completing their first Winchester Half Marathon this weekend! The race, which took place on Sunday, took Josh and Anna through the City, including highlights such as Hursley, St Catherine’s Hill, (although thankfully not up it), the Cathedral before finishing outside the Guildhall, where Josh and Anna were greeted by friends and family.
Josh finished the 13.1 miles run in 1:39:54, while Anna completed the race in 1:59:57.

Here’s to hopefully even more Half Marathons in 2018!

Josh and Anna complete the Southampton Half Marathon

Well done to Josh and Anna, who both took part in the Southampton Half-Marathon yesterday and finished with excellent times.
Josh completed the half marathon in 1:36:02, placing 276th out of 3750 participants. Anna finished in 01:52:41, placing 1101th out of 3750 participants.

The half-marathon started on the High Street, shortly after 10am, with the course taking in a range of the city’s highlights, including the gruelling Itchen Bridge, a packed Riverside Park and even an inspiring detour alongside the pitch at St Mary’s stadium, home to Southampton Football Club. Runners finished outside Southampton’s Guildhall, where they were given their goodie bags, bananas and alcohol free beer!

Despite feeling very sore today, Josh and Anna are still over the moon with their achievement and can’t wait to take part again next year.
