Camkids Winter 2015/16 Newsletter

TLC proudly sponsors Camkids – The Cambodian Children’s Charity, and this week we received our Winter 2015/16 Newsletter. Camkids are an amazing charity who supports less-fortunate children in Cambodia with parents who are unable to support them.

Camkids have had a great start to the year, as they are now a fully-registered International Non-Governmental Organisation (INGO), which underlines their commitment to providing quality education, nutrition, healthcare and development to the children of Cambodia.

‘CamKids’ Update

Sreylim-1You may already know that TLC Business supports ‘CamKids’, The Cambodian Children’s Charity. In 2010, TLC Business decided too help the charity further by sponsoring a young girl called Sreylim. Unfortunately, Sreylim’s parents are too poor to support her and her brother Chanrith and they were deemed to be at risk, therefore, Social Services decided that it was in their best interests to live in the children’s village created by ‘CamKids’.
Our sponsorship not only provides food, education and clothes for Sreylim, but also lets her enjoy activities such as, swimming, sport and music….things we often take for granted.

We have received an update from ‘CamKids’ and we’re really pleased to hear that Sreylim recently completed grade 6, finishing near the top of her class in every subject.

Who Will Village – Biannual Update

Biannual Update July 2013This month we received the biannual report from the Who Will Village in Cambodia. Here we sponsor a little girl called Sreylim through ‘CamKids’, The Cambodian Children’s Charity. The Who Will Village work very hard all year round to improve the education, medical conditions and life in general for the children that live there.
The newsletter highlights all the changes that have been made at the village over the last 6 months, including de-worming and de-headlicing programmes, the appointment of a new village manager and the building of a brand new school computer room. It is clear to see that the village is moving forward day-by-day.

As well as developing the children’s school, they celebrated International Children’s Day with games, face painting, t-shirt painting, balloon sculpture, manicures, pedicures and football.

CamKids Newsletter Summer 2013

cam-kidsThis week, we received the summer 2013 newsletter from the charity that we support, CamKids. CamKids main aim is to support children in Cambodia whose parents are either too poor or for another reason, unable to support them.
CamKids have had a busy start to the year with lots going on. They have two new teachers at the school and a new vegetable patch has been built. Additionally, two wells have been drilled and two septic tanks installed. Toys, library books, school uniform and footwear have been given to the children, all the things that we take for granted.

CamKids Update 2013

Sreylim2013This week we received our Child Sponsorship Annual Update from the Cambodian children’s charity CamKids. We sponsor a young girl called Sreylim, whose parents are sadly too poor to support her and her brother.

Sreylim is now 14, she is very happy and healthy and doing very well at school, despite contracting Typhoid. She came 2nd overall in her entire class with her results this year. Her favourite sports are football and badminton and she loves reading English stories – the most recent one being “Anne of Green Gables”. Her favourite English band, perhaps unsurpisinglym, is One Direction.

She is very excited about her upcoming return trip to the Angkor Cycle Challenge, she has been entered into a 17km bike ride and has been training at 5:30am every morning. When Sreylim finishes school she plans to study to be a translator and then hopefully become a tour guide.
